Mammut Launches Global Photo Contest With €60,000 In Gear – and Hides It Around The World
This summer, Swiss outdoor brand Mammut is calling on photographers and nature lovers around the world to capture their unique view of the outdoors through powerful imagery.

To raise awareness for the photo contest, Mammut is organizing an exciting scavenger hunt for hidden kits of gear – and sending their CEO, Heiko Schäfer, into the famed Eiger North Face to (maybe) drop one off!
To kick off the 2025 Mammut Photo Contest, the company is making waves with a global “Finders/Keepers” campaign: Renowned outdoor athletes are hiding high-quality gear packages in secret locations around the world – including Mammut CEO Heiko Schäfer himself, who ventured into the famous Eiger North Face to do so.
Creativity Meets Adventure – How the Contest Works
The contest is open to participants of all experience levels – from ambitious hobbyists to seasoned professionals. The goal is to submit photos that showcase stunning places, moving encounters, and the magic of being outdoors.
Entries can be submitted between May 15 and July 15, 2025 (11:59 PM CEST) via the platform mammut.com/photocontest.
Categories & Judging
An expert jury of photography, outdoor, and brand specialists, along with Mammut Ambassadors, will anonymously evaluate all entries based on thematic relevance.
The categories include:
- Book a Room with a View – Landscapes & Base Camps
- Don’t Miss the Sights – Favorite Locations
- Chill with the Locals – Unforgettable Encounters with People or Animals
- Avoid Tourist Traps – Hidden Natural Gems
- Dine Under the Open Sky – Culinary Outdoor Moments
- Check-In Early – Exclusive Instagram Category
Grand Prize – Valued at Over € 12,000:

“Finders/Keepers” – A Global Treasure Hunt to Kick Off the Contest
To launch the contest, Mammut, along with international outdoor stars and creators – including Adam Ondra, Jérémie Heitz, Brendan Carberry, Lena Drapella, and Katie Burrell – is hiding more than €60,000 worth of outdoor gear and Leica cameras at secret spots around the globe.
Anyone can take part: If you find a hidden cache, you get to keep the gear – and use it for your photo contest entry. However, participants need to earn it to keep it! Clues will be posted on Mammut’s social media channels. The treasure hunt is independent of the contest and not a requirement to enter.
